3 myths about self esteem

Self esteem is something a lot of people are lacking, some have in abundance and most of us want it – and more of it. The thing is there are a few myths surrounding self esteem which people might use as an excuse not to get better at self esteem and instead keep sitting in the same little hole feeling sorry for themselves…… Sorry to be so blunt but that is often the case. Therefor I have decided to dispel the myths and let you know THERE IS HOPE!!!   Myth #1: Self esteem is something … [Read more...]

Stop being so positive

I listened to an interesting podcast yesterday by Susan David. The gist of it is about how the constant “order” of “just think positive and everything will be ok” can often make us feel like a failure when things aren’t ok or work out in a good way. Often it can leave us thinking we might not have thought positively enough. Unfortunately the self-development industry has taught us to be positive, constantly, which, to a degree, is a good thing. But it didn’t teach us to also let … [Read more...]

Grey Divorce – Grey Future?

Grey Divorce – Grey Future? What an interesting expression – grey divorce. It has become a standard expression and it means divorce after the age of 50, I guess assuming that everyone at that age has grey hair. Seeing that one of my favourite sayings is “Grey hair are highlights of wisdom” I might say filing for divorce at that stage in life is a wise thing to do. And surely it is for many couples as they find themselves really no longer happy together so it might be wise to try to be … [Read more...]

Setting healthy boundaries – Your path to more personal freedom

What exactly is a boundary? "Guidelines, rules or limits that a person creates to identify reasonable, safe and permissible ways for other people to behave towards them and how they will respond when someone passes those limits." That's a bit of a mouth full when we think about how to implement it into our personal life, isn't it. But it sounds actually much bigger than it might be in reality. Once we actually have identified what the reasonable, sage and permissible ways are. And that of … [Read more...]

The other side of fear….

One of my favourite topics is talking about fears and how they dominate and often rule our lives. And in an exercise I did recently in a group it turned out that, ultimately, literally everything in life that relates to more or less negative emotions boils down to one emotion and that is fear. That is the dominant emotion that drives a lot of what we do or don't do in life, I might even say most of it. There is an unlived hidden life within us. A life we dream about, a … [Read more...]

Scared of flying?

No more need for that. Easy said you might think. And yes it is easy said with the experience I have when it comes to help people losing their fear of flying. See, i was one like you as well a while ago. The thought of having to board a flight gave me sleepless nights before the event even happened. Everything that possibly could go wrong went through my head. Again and again. All the statistics and well meant advice from friends did nothing because as much as statistics is a logic thing, … [Read more...]

Self-Development – what does it actually mean?

Originally I was going to post a video but after a few attempts I realised I wasn't happy enough to put it up there. Why was I not happy enough? Well, there are so many videos out there these days and I guess when you want to put one out yourself you start comparing it to the good ones. The ones that people seem to listen/watch and that seem to get shared for what ever reason. My reason for wanting to get shared would be because I want to inspire people, I would like to take a little bit of the … [Read more...]

Relaxed during the HSC preparations and exams

Imagine your child as relaxed as this beaver for their HSC preparation and exams… I can hear a sigh and with it comes the thought, “how good would that be – not only for my child but for everyone else involved like parents, siblings, friends, even teachers….” I know it because I have been there myself – twice. Have you ever wondered why some kids just cruise through exam preparations and others battle through sleepless nights and anxiety, often turning to medication, and when the exam … [Read more...]

EMDR on ABC TV

Recently ABC TV aired an interesting program about how EMDR, a major component of wingwave coaching, can help paramedics overcome traumatic experiences. And of course this does not only go for paramedics but for anyone with any kind of traumatic experience, even very small ones which we all have. Be it that mean kid at school that bullied us, a parent that constantly nagged around us, a break-up, a loss of a loved one, an accident or simply not feeling the best abut yourself. We hardly ever … [Read more...]
